Ifeoluwa Ayandele was born in rural Ago Are, Nigeria, the son of a painter. He will start his Master of Fine Arts Program in Poetry at Florida State University beginning in the Summer B session, which starts June 20.

Like most people in academics, Mae Zitzke receives a stream of emails, most that can be deleted without a second thought. A recent one that arrived in her inbox, however, has given Zitzke the opportunity of a lifetime—an eight-week scholarship to study the Arabic language in Morocco.

The English department’s annual award ceremony recognizes the achievements and excellence of both graduate and undergraduate students. The awards committee, along with other department faculty members, judge the nominations, and Committee Chair English Professor Aaron Jaffe presented the awards to this year’s winners in an April 22, 2022, ceremony held on Zoom. Here are the winners and the awards for the 2021-22 academic year.

This is in no small part due to the recruitment process the department provides for prospective graduate students. The annual Open House, which was just hosted from February 28 to March 1 is an important contributor to the recruitment process of the program.
