Florida State University’s undergraduate literary magazine, The Kudzu Review, is accepting submissions for its 67th issue.

Are you a Florida State University undergraduate English major with an idea for research or a project you want to get off the ground, but you aren’t sure where to start?

Apply now for an IDEA grant.

IDEA grants are offered to help fund research and creative endeavors. Students in any major can apply to receive up to $2,000 worth of a summer stipend to conduct a self-designed project, creative idea, performance, or proposal.

The Southeast Review’s annual fundraiser returns this year with exciting new activities for participants to experience and enjoy. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 26, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Bark and will feature an open mic, a silent auction, and a special Halloween costume contest.

When Diane McCain was an undergraduate student studying English at Florida State University, she dreamed of becoming a lawyer and opening a family practice with her father. But after McCain’s life was upended by unfathomable tragedy one fateful night, her life path took an unexpected turn.

In the four decades since McCain’s life irreversibly changed, she has been a strong advocate for victims’ rights and has helped make history by having rights for victims added to the Florida Constitution.

The fall semester at Florida State University began on Monday, Aug. 23, 2021—with a return to in-person classes and events. The university seemed to jump right in and resume normalcy after the removal of most pandemic restrictions.

Before this reopening, the majority of campus operations took place virtually for more than a year and a half. Six weeks into the semester, however, the FSU community has not forgotten about the Covid-19 pandemic’s impact.
