Poet and essayist Franny Choi recently visited Florida State University to read their poetry and participate in a Q&A panel. Choi’s striking poetry speaks to current political and social issues. Their poems question gender, race, sexuality, and technology, creating a space for readers to confront and ponder these topics.

The Undergraduate Research Symposium (URS), one of the largest university-based symposia in the country and FSU's only all-campus interdisciplinary undergraduate research showcase, provides undergraduate students from all majors the opportunity to present their work to the wider community.

When Tarah Jean was an undergraduate at Florida State University, she learned as much about newswriting and print media as she could, to help her determine what field of writing she wanted for a career.

During her time in college as an English-Editing, Writing, and Media major, Jean was a staff writer for Her Campus FSU, she was an editorial assistant for The Kudzu Review, she wrote and edited for the FSView & Florida Flambeau, and she even explored technical writing for the FSU Research Computing Center.

Attending academic conferences and presenting research is an essential experience for graduate students. Late in the Fall 2023 semester, five Florida State University scholars represented the English-Literature, Media, and Culture Program at various conferences around the country.

Florida State University’s English-Creative Writing Program is hosting author Tiphanie Yanique as part of the Jerome Stern Reading Series.

Yanique is both reading and participating in an author Q&A session with English Assistant Professor Ravi Howard. The reading is Tuesday, March 5, at 8 p.m. in the Conradi Theatre, located in the Williams Building. Howard will moderate the Q&A session at 3:30 p.m. in the Williams Building Common Room (Room 013).
