Chat Generative Pre-Trained Transformer, or more commonly known as ChatGPT, has recently surged into the mainstream media and educational landscapes throughout the world. Released in November 2022, the software saw an extreme spike in users at the beginning of 2023 due to the buzz it started to receive on various social media platforms.

Katie Kelsey may be a second-year Florida State University student now, but to her mother, she is still the little girl playing with french fries from the bottom of the bag.

“My mom loves to remind me of when I was in the back of her little minivan and I had two fries that I was playing with: I was creating a whole story in my head,” Kelsey says.

Growing up, a challenge of Kelsey’s was realizing her creativity was a gift, not a drawback.

As an English major on the editing, writing, and media track, I always look for ways to express my creativity while furthering my academic journey. Volunteering for a philanthropic organization may not seem to require creativity, but this could not be further from the truth.

In order to fundraise for any organization, a person must effectively communicate the cause and its needs and make connections with sponsors and other potential donors. Dance Marathon at FSU is no different.

As a child, Winn dreamed of becoming a published fiction author; that dream then shifted to becoming a poet when she was in high school.
