Fall graduation, December 11, 2020

Congratulations, Department of English graduates!

The external circumstances surrounding your personal achievement do not diminish the importance of your accomplishments. Whether you receive a college diploma in person or via a virtual ceremony, the coursework, the long hours of studying, and the memories you created along the way all carry the same weight.

For some of you, earning your bachelor’s degree is a first in your family; for others, you have followed parents, siblings, or other loved ones to FSU for an advanced education. No matter where you started, however, all of you are now part of the Department of English alumni family.

We have created a video to commemorate your accomplishments, with 2005 English alumnus Garrett Johnson offering a short speech on what it means to be an English graduate and what the future could offer you. Please click here to watch the video, which includes the reading of your names.

In addition, we are spotlighting several fall graduates who chose to share their insights on what being an English major meant to them and where they plan to go next. Click on a student's name below to read her or his story.

Congratulations again to all of the Fall 2020 graduates!
