The Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship, in partnership with the Florida State University Alumni Association, annually hosts the Seminole 100 Celebration, which honors 100 alumni entrepreneurs.
This year, four distinguished alumni from the Department of English made the list, showcasing the successes and variety of career possibilities for English majors. The event featured these English alumni: Kevin Harvey, owner of Harvey Books, located in Wake Forest, North Carolina; Ronald Pierce, founder of RSA Consulting Group, with locations across Florida; Neil St. John Rambana, an immigration attorney at Rambana and Ricci law firm in Tallahassee; and Mark Alexander, president and CEO at Cloud Navigator in Tallahassee.
The Seminole 100 tradition has been in place beginning in 2018, although the Institute for Global Entrepreneurship celebrated its 30th birthday last year. The program “cultivates, trains, and inspires entrepreneurial leaders through world-class executive education, applied training, public recognition and leading-edge research,” according to its mission statement. The institute also regularly recognizes the diverse career paths FSU students take after they graduate.
The university announces the winners a few months prior to the annual celebration held at the Donald. L. Tucker Civic Center. For the 2026 ceremony, held February 21, honorees were announced in November of 2025, leaving plenty of time for the featured alumni to get excited and plan for travel to their alma mater for a night of highlighting their achievements.
“When we got the invitation that we had made the Seminole 100, we were blown away,” Harvey says, who traveled from North Carolina to attend. “It was surreal that this little thing we started was going to be honored like that.”
Known now for nearly a decade as a night to highlight successful entrepreneurs and businesses, the Seminole 100 Celebration welcomes many of the most accomplished FSU alumni. This year, English alumni make up four of the 100 companies on the list, demonstrating how the humanities can thrive in the entrepreneurial world.
