CRW 4120 Spring 2025 - Butler

In the wide range of fictional forms, this course is focused on one genre only: what is often vaguely described as “literary fiction.” The course will clarify what fiction as art truly is. Beyond issues of craft and technique, it will develop the nascent literary artist’s deep sense of the sources and nature of the creative process. This will be done by an examination of the aesthetic philosophy voiced in From Where You Dream, and by the subsequent creation of literary work for the workshop.
