CRW 3311 Fall 2024 - Sokolowski
This course will ask you to relax your preconceptions about what poetry should look, feel, and sound like. With this open and curious eye, you'll work toward building the discipline and technical skills necessary to produce effective work. We'll enjoy a mixture of class formats (including lecture, discussion, and other in-class activities) designed to help you develop your poetic vocabulary and close-reading skills. Course readings will consist of several full-length poetry collections by contemporary authors and some craft essays along the way. The ultimate goal of this course is to produce at least one poem for workshop which, after revisions, should be of publishable quality. You'll leave this class a stronger reader and writer.
