Women in Literature: Female Bodies in Movement
So Young Koo

This course offers a nuanced examination of diasporic literature through the lens of female bodies in motion. By centering on narratives that traverse geographical and cultural boundaries, students will explore the complexities of identity, belonging, and agency as depicted through the experiences of diasporic women.

Through a diverse selection of texts spanning fiction, poetry, memoir, and essays, students will analyze how female bodies navigate displacement, migration, and cultural hybridity. Themes such as home, exile, memory, and resistance will be explored in conjunction with the portrayal of women's bodies as sites of cultural, political, and personal negotiation.

Ultimately, "Female Bodies in Movement: Exploring Diasporic Literature" invites students to explore the rich tapestry of diasporic voices and experiences, while interrogating the ways in which female bodies both reflect and resist the forces of displacement and cultural change.
