CRW 4320 Spring 2024
This course hopes to introduce the student to a variety of means to a very specific end: the crafting of a poem that is not only a clear expression of your imagination, but that is capable of becoming an imaginative vehicle for its reader. This pursuit will be carried out within the context of weekly guided and independent readings of a wide selection of contemporary poetry. Students will concentrate especially on writing for an audience, creating concrete and evocative imagery, and exploring a variety of different strategies for the drafting and revising of their poems.\n\n Texts include Contemporary American Poetry, 8th edition, ed. Poulin & Waters. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt as well as elected readings through the semester distributed by email or in class.
