LIT 2000 Spring 2024
This course is designed to serve as an introduction to literature and literary study. We will investigate the practice of close reading and analysis by reading a selection of diverse texts. The primary goal of this course is to introduce students to the practices of close reading and analysis. We will use literary elements such as plot, character, setting, and style, to critique and analyze the function of the course texts. Additionally, students will learn how to give thoughtful responses to a text based on its social, political, and economic contexts. Throughout the semester, we will read novels that wrestle with a plethora of different issues and anxieties from the varying perspectives of writers who have vastly different lived experiences and identities.
