WOMEN IN LITERATURE
Liesel Hamilton

In this course we will read poetry, fiction, and nonfiction by and about women. Students will have an opportunity to turn in creative work, alongside their critical work, if they wish. We will read and rethink classic canonized authors such as Emily Dickinson, but also listen to podcasts and read modern writers such as Melissa Febos, Robin Wall Kimmerer, and Alice Walker. As we read these works, we will think about composition and the creative process and we will analyze themes including, but not limited to, gender, sexuality, race, class, and ethnicity.
