Writing for Screens and Media
While media has always shaped human existence—regardless of historical era or culture—its pervasiveness in the current moment is as unprecedented as itis power. Thus, the importance of media as a force warrants both critical study and pragmatic engagement as a potential career venue. EWM offers an opportunity to do both. The major presents a unique opportunity for you to dive into the historical, theoretical, and ethical implications of media power while also inviting students to experiment with producing their own media content. Classroom assignments range from experiences with writing for print media, such as newsletters, and digital media, from websites to digital posters and videos. EWM students gain critical knowledge of the nature, function, and impact of media along with the practical knowledge necessary to produce effective writing for different media.
