CRW 3311 Fall 2024 - Grenville
This course offers a theoretical and practical study of contemporary poetry. Students will develop a working vocabulary and practical understanding of the key craft elements of poetry through a detailed study of contemporary writers. We will read a diverse selection of poets and consider how they make use of such elements as the image, figurative language, the poetic line, rhythm, etc. to create their work. In addition to a craft-based study of 20th and 21st century poets, students will engage in their own writing projects and in whole-class workshops. At the end of the class, students will have a substantial collection of their own revised poetry.
