Editing
EWM has a sustained focus on writing and editing for varied occasions, situations, purposes, and audiences. While writing is a hallmark of the major, EWM is equally remarkable for its focus on editing. Students have opportunities for formal study of editing in courses dedicated to that skill as well as through coursework that highlights editorial responses from trained peers and faculty. Thus, editing is both a content area and an immersive experience, a coordinated approach that underscores how editing involves more than a recognition of comma splices and dangling modifiers. It is a creative and powerful act of its own.
