ENC 3402 - FALL 2026 - COGSWELL
This class will take you through the entire process of development from concept and elevator pitch, one-, three-, and ten-page synopses, to the completed first draft of a feature-length screenplay. We will examine the roots of filmic narrative, read several important and pertinent works of 19th and 20th century classic literature and contemporary and recent guides to screenplay craft, and screen as many movies as we can. You will learn how scripts win or lose competitions, and get industry coverage, and how to start, staff and run an independent film production company. Your work will be shared with the class at every stage, but you will also learn how to protect your intellectual property from theft. We will be honest and respectful, help each other, and have smart fun.
