CRW 3110 - Fall 2026 - Walters

According to Stephen King, to write fiction is "to shovel shit from a sitting position." In this class, we'll do a whole lot of shoveling. Our craft-oriented discussions will examine contemporary short stories, novel chapters, craft essays, and film excerpts. Our in-class exercises will investigate voice, character, dialogue, setting, and other building blocks. Our technique-driven workshops will explore the work of you and your peers. Together, we'll practice all stages of the writing process, and do so boldly.
