TRINYAN PAULSEN MARIANO, Assistant Professor, Ph.D., Rutgers University, J.D., Brigham Young University, studies and teaches American literature and culture from the Civil War though the mid-twentieth century. Her research interests include the novel, legal history, and narratives of extra-legal justice. She is currently working a book manuscript, Houses of Law, that charts literary representations of competing discourses of law and investigates the role that literature played in the post-Civil War development of tort law, segregation, and the right to privacy.
