PAUL SHEPHERD, Writer-in-Residence, Ph.D., Florida State University, MFA, University of North Carolina, Greensboro, specializes in fiction. His novel, More Like Not Running Away, won the Mary McCarthy Prize in 2004, and it was a finalist for the AWP Intro Award (2004), the James Jones Novel Award (2002, 2003), and the Bakeless Literary Prize (2000). His work has appeared in journals such as Prairie Schooner, Crazyhorse, Omni Magazine, Fiction, St. Anthony Messenger, The Beloit Fiction Journal, William & Mary Review, and Folio. He is the former senior editor of International Quarterly. He also runs a nonprofit construction company, Rainbow Rehab, that renovates homes for lower-income homeowners.
